Well, it’s been a while. That’s a VERY large understatement. Is that an oxi-moron? Either way, Times Neue Roman’s latest EP, Zombies: The To Die Remixes (INTELLEGENIX) dropped yesterday and on it, among other fantastic remixes from the likes of Barletta, Pink Dead Whale and Peter Project, is mine. Each remix is expertly crafted and well ready to take over whatever genres dance floor so do yourself a favor and go to Beatport, Junodownload, Amazon, iTunesiTunes and give it a listen. I guarantee you’ll find something you like. Also, to grab a lower res copy of my remix and check out further praise from a fantastic blog (if I do say so myself) go to Discobelle.net MAKESHIFT Out!

We had spoken about doing some original music a while back but both got side-tracked. No longer!

While we do plan to record some tracks that I have produced, this time around, we were puttin’ in work recording and mixing her over a fLako beat. The tune is called Elevate. You can check out a rough mix preview here!

I just got wind of this site and it’s videos. Kudos to Jay Goldman for the info.

Kutiman is a DJ from Jerusalem who’s painstakingly taken various youtube clips of people playing music or singing and mixed their audio together to form not 1 but 7 different songs! All of which are very well produced considering the limitations of the sources.

TIME magazine reports on the particulars…On Mar. 7, the Jerusalem-born DJ (whose offline name is Ophir Kutiel) launched ThruYOU, a project with a simple enough premise: to create visual symphonies using random YouTube footage of school concerts, piano lessons, weirdly intimate soliloquies and American Idol-esque performances uploaded by people across the world. In one of his creations, dubbed “This Is What It Became,” the 26-year-old artist juxtaposes clips of a “Glitch Monster Love Bot,” a tutorial called “How to Play Conga Drums,” a dimly lit monologue for the legalization of marijuana and a demo for a toy keyboard/ tape deck that YouTuber CosmoHelectraStudio, who posted the video of the gadget, describes as “a very bad sound” and “a poor tape player.”

Check out the TIME article here or go directly to the ThruYOU site.

Here’s just one of the videos/songs. Just awesome.

I’ve had Kelly Polar’s latest album, I Need You To Hold On While the Sky is Falling, on repeat in the car for many moons. His production style is unparalleled IMO and he has a uniquely unpop voice that’s more like a musical alto. In fact, though I haven’t confirmed this, I Need You To Hold On seems to me a kind of opera or musical, expressing in many songs the anguish of unrequited love in it’s different forms. Many of the songs have an almost vengful tone that make me think he wrote the songs having recently broken up with someone or making the protagonist of his songs doing just that.I could be wrong however, that’s just a thought. I always thought that this song, Chrysanthemum, was about the pain of breakup and wanting revenge (though not necessarily taking it). However, after more listening, it could be about nuclear war. You be the judge…

Here’s the video for Chrysanthemum. Enjoy! It’s Kick Ass too!
