I am a producer in the loosest most nouveau sense of the word. My training includes some piano when I was younger, then some trombone in school bands until highschool and then nothing… until I University when I DJed, got back into music substantially and made the decision to produce music.
At that time I was more concerned with getting my degree than making the next club hit. But after taking the next step and going to OIART to learn Audio Engineering so I could learn the tools of the trade I sunk myself into this schedule. A timeline of when I had to have something done.
Well, it’s been about 5 years and I’ve only now started to market and release music and feel that I’m at a point where I can create something that I can call a professional product.
What’s the point? Some things take time. I think all of us “bedroom producers” could be making superb music but we have to leverage that against making enough money to support ourselves, family obligations or whathaveyou. So I suppose this is a message to say don’t lose hope. As I mentioned two posts ago, we are doing this because we love it.
